Interceding Love

- Sis. Evangeline Paul Dhinakaran

The Dhinakarans

Dear Friend! A mother is known for her love for her children. A mother would defend her children and take up their cause, though she knows pretty well that their children are at fault. Such is the heart of a mother. My father Mr. K. S. Thangasamy often used to narrate a funny incident. Once, when he was a little boy, he was playing with his friend. Playfully my father had hit his friend who got badly hurt. At once, that boy’s mother rushed to my grandmother’s house for a confrontation. My grandmother defended my father and drove her away saying, ‘What’s the big deal? My son is a gem of a person. He wouldn’t have hit your son . . .” Thus she defended him.

In this world we have an intercessor and He is the Holy Spirit. The Bible says we all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). So, when we cry out to Lord Jesus Christ, "Lord, save me,” He sends the Holy Spirit, the comforter to intercede for us, with the Father.

Lord Jesus said before ascending to heaven, "I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever (John 14:16).

Yes, the Lord sends the Holy Spirit, the Comforter to stay with us forever and Who helps us to be holy before the Father. The Holy Spirit helps us to keep away from the world which is under the sway of the wicked one (1 John 5:19) and from the lust of the eye, lust of flesh and pride of life (1 John 2:16).

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!" (Luke 11:13 ; Matthew 7:11). Let us ask the Father to send us the Spirit of Truth, Who shall enable us to live holy before the Father. The Holy Spirit will intercede for us in our weakness.

The Bible says, “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered (intercedes for us)” (Romans 8:26). The Holy Spirit enables us to walk holy and pure before the Father. Let us receive the Holy Spirit and be blessed in life.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

I thank and praise You for the Holy Spirit Who intercedes for me in my weakness when I do not know what I should pray for. Father, I praise You for the Holy Spirit and fill me mightily with the Holy Spirit. Fill me with Your grace and draw me closer to You. Let my life bring glory to You. In Jesus’ name I pray.

Amen.
